THE NEW STOCKS ROTOR JET - A HIGH PRECISION APPLICATOR FOR SMALLER MACHINES

A new ultra-accurate small seed and micro granule applicator aimed at farmers with machinery up to 4m wide will be launched by Stocks Ag at LAMMA 2024.

Hot on the heels of two new product introductions at Agritechnica, the Rotor Jet is an evolution of Stocks’ time-proven Rotor Meter product that has been in the Cambridgeshire based company’s line-up for many years.

The four-outlet unit offers precise metering with air-assisted distribution. The four streams of material can then be split and spread by eight distribution plates to achieve a 4m working width.

Unlike the Maxi Jet which was launched at Agritechnica and is designed for high-capacity applications on equipment up to 15m wide, the Rotor Jet is targeted at users with smaller host machines wanting a cost-effective solution with similar levels of accuracy.

The Rotor Jet utilises a smaller version of the metering block and rollers employed in its bigger brother the Turbo Jet. Distribution is facilitated by a single high power SPAL fan. A compact design and options of 65-, 130- or 240-litre hoppers mean that the Rotor Jet is also ideal for narrow row width applications such as vineyards where there is an increasing requirement for inter-row green cover establishment and precise in-row fertiliser application.

The Rotor Jet can be fitted with a number of different control systems to optimise its use. The proven, top of the range i-CON system which is available across all Stocks Ag applicators provides maximum functionality and ISOBUS connectivity is also available where multiple machines are being used simultaneously. However, Stocks anticipates that the new Jackal controller, one of the products launched at Agritechnica, will be ideally suited to many operators’ requirements.

The Jackal takes a forward speed input from the tractor’s seven-pin implement plug and a simple control box guides the user through set up, calibration and operation. The control box also provides operational feedback and on-the-move rate control to ensure precise application.

As with the entire Stocks applicator range, the Rotor Jet is ideally suited to assisting farmers and landowners in delivering various cover crop, bird food mix and boundary strip SFI options.
