STOCKS DUAL WHEEL ON THE GLOBAL STAGE
Following a two-year hiatus, the World Ploughing Championships returned, this time held in Co. Laois in the Republic of Ireland. After a 4th place finish in the 2019 competition in America, competitor Andrew Gill of Northern Ireland had high hopes for this years’ contest.
In the lead up to the 2022 competition, Andrew decided that to improve his chances of getting into a medal winning position and even winning the golden plough, he would reach out to Stocks to see if they would be happy to support his world championship bid.
The Stocks standard dual wheel appealed to Andrew because of the renowned simplicity of fitting and removing compared to the competition. A dual wheel is useful in a ploughing match scenario as it helps smooth out undulations and increases the uniformity of the furrows.
Following a few days of practise, day one saw Andrew winning the silver medal in the stubble contest – a fantastic result. On day two, in a competing field of 26, Andrew placed 6th in the grassland contest, ploughing incredibly well.
Overall, Andrew’s efforts resulted in a 4th place finish at the world ploughing championships, an excellent achievement.
Stocks dual wheels have a worldwide reputation for strength and durability, and the unique low-maintenance design of the dual wheel clamp and power rail means that the wheels are easy to fit.
